When Saber-toothed Tigers Roamed the Earth
The Smilodon fatalis, also known as the saber-toothed tiger, is a species of extinct cat characterized by its large, elongated canines. It lived during the Upper Pleistocene era in California, USA, and is now on public display at the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History & Science in Ohio.
This fierce predator could take down large prey using its powerful fangs and commonly roamed in the La Brea Tar Pits of California. Many animals indeed looked more ferocious in prehistoric times.
