Veruschka, Coolest Model of the 1960s
Back when the term ‘supermodel’ was still not commonly used, a Russian girl by the name of Veruschka von Lehndorff became the inspiration of countless artists and admirers. She was a descendant of the great composer Wagner and lost her father due to political reasons (he was an opposer of the Nazi regime).
Coming from a troubled background, Verushcka first gained notoriety after appearing briefly in the 1966 cult-movie Blow Up. From then on, she collaborated with Salvador Dalí, appeared on numerous Vogue magazine covers, attended Woodstock, and became a pro-abortion activist. She is now 81-years-old.
